Aizawl College of Nursing

The Aizawl College of Nursing is an autonomous, self-financing Institution established by the Eye Care Hospital Society, Dawrpui South, Aizawl, Mizoram. The governing body of Eye Care Hospital Society, Dawrpui ‘S’ Aizawl, Mizoram deliberated the possibility of establishing a much-needed College of Nursing in Aizawl. Therefore, the board envisioned a college that impart quality Nursing Education in Mizoram.

The meeting made a final resolution to establish the Aizawl College of Nursing at Ramrikawn, Aizawl driven by a strong felt-need of the people and a desire to serve communities by providing quality nursing education. Ebenezer Medical Centre, Chawnpui agreed to be our parent hospital.

From Principal's Desk

It is a privilege and an honor, as the Principal of Aizawl College of Nursing, to be able to serve at a decent nursing institution. Our institute offers a 4-year degree course in Registered Nursing and Registered Midwifery.

Nursing, in my opinion, is a unique profession that blends cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Nursing education empowers one to lift oneself from darkness to light.

I believe that education should not be confined only to books but should empower individuals to explore various avenues. The students who join the institute are young with creative minds and ideas of their own. Each of them has innate abilities and strengths. As facilitators, mentors, and educators, it is our bound duty to tap into their interests and to build and inculcate the right values among them. The focus of the institute is to develop the personality of the student and to prepare nurses with excellent skills, the right knowledge, and a kind and proper attitude.

The faculty, along with all the non-teaching and supportive staff, strive to provide quality nursing education in order for students to render standard nursing care in the healthcare area and to produce eligible nurses to work within the country as well as throughout the world. It is also a privilege for the students to have clinical postings at a renowned NABH-accredited Hospital like Ebenezer Medical Center to be guided under efficient hospital staff with excellent facilities.

Admission Criteria

The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years as of 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
Minimum Educational Qualification: Must have passed 10+2 Science from institutions recognized by State Government, or National Institute of Open School recognized by Central Government.
The criteria for entrance test are as follows:
- ST/SC/OBC – 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together and passed in English individually.
- General – 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) taken together and passed in English individually.
Selection of candidates shall be based on the merit of the entrance examination and interview. Entrance test shall comprise of:
- Aptitude for Nursing– 20 marks
- Physics– 20 marks
- Chemistry– 20 marks
- Biology– 20 marks
- English– 20 marks
5% disability reservation shall be applicable for candidates with loco-motor disability of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity.
Foreign Nationals: Entry qualification equivalency (12th standard) shall be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, SNRC and University are responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility meet Council requirements.
